Warren Barguil, an Arkea-Samsic cyclist team favourite, has just become the French Road Race Champion. He won the sprint at the La Haye-Fouassière circuit in Loire Atlantique.

On Sunday 30 June, after a race of over 250km, the Arkea-Samsic team captain took the lead in a sprint during the French National Road Race Championship in La Haye-Fouassière (French department 44).

Warren Barguil, known as Wawa, led the breakaway group throughout the day with more than 100km to go. He first tried his luck 2km from the finish line, then again 700m further along and won a sprint ahead of his six breakaway companions.

This fitting victory comes 10 years after Barguil won the French junior championship in 2009 and is a perfect, timely boost before he takes on the most renowned cycling competitions of the year. We'll be proud to see him sporting the tri-coloured jersey next Saturday at the Grand Boucle starting line!
